SEARCH AND RESCUE Monday April 16th - Friday April 27th, 2018
INTMD 7981 - Wilderness Medicine: Search and Rescue
There will a SAR course beginning April 16th, 2018. Methods of searching and rescuing people will be taught. This will be taught in and around the mountains of Salt Lake City over the next two weeks. There will be approximately 10 sessions in the classroom and out of the classroom. This will be limited to 22 students. More details of this experiencs will be outlined later and an email sent to you if you have signed up for this to tell you exactly where and when. You should plan on being in Salt Lake City that Monday. The rest of the schedule will be outlined at that meeting.
We're looking forward to meeting you all and having a fun time in the mountains. Locations are still being finalized, but we will coordinate meeting places with you as the course approaches. We will meet in the afternoons, and you will have mornings free for practice and exploration. On the first day we will meet in the lobby of HSEB, and we'll get you more details about that soon. We are hoping that we'll be able to spend one half of our time outside, and avoid PowerPoint as much as possible. All activities will be in Salt Lake and the mountains east of the Salt Lake valley, so don't worry about having to travel too far. You will also have the weekend off, and past students have used that time to explore some of Utah's national parks (Arches, Zion, etc.). What you do with that free time is completely up to you. Just be safe! We have lots of snow still, and we're working to make final decisions on training sites.
